Montana Rocky Mountain Labradors
Desire's Pine Ridge Lonesome Dove Gus
The following is what Joe Dutro, www.teamtakem.com, has to say about Gus.
The litter that produced Gus was from my MH female Dora and FC/AFC Drake. We did this litter in hopes of creating a high energy dog that was still very trainable and willing to work with the handlers. I feel we succeeded. All of the pups in that litter titled at a very early age. After training two other Master Hunters, Three Senior Hunters and One Junior Hunter, Gus is the easiest dog I have ever trained. He learns very quickly with little to no pressure. Gus is eager to please and loves to train. He is an intense dog that stays focused at the task at hand. Gus is an extremely good marker that stays in the area until he digs up the bird. That being said, Gus is the perfect dog in the house and with family and kids. He definitely has the on/off switch.
Gus came to me for training in late March at 18 months old. Over the course of the next six months, Gus earned his Junior Hunter Title, went 4/5 to earn his Senior Hunter Title and received his first Master pass all before turning 2 years of age. By the time Gus turned 2 years and 9 months old not only had he achieved his Master Title he also qualified for the 2012 Master National after passing 6 of 7 tests. To say that Gus is a good dog is an understatement. Gus is the dog that we all hope to own at least one time in our lives. I am just thankful I have had the opportunity to work with Gus. The family and I love the big guy.
